Update 1 May 2011:  Vanity Fayre branch location is no longer open.  We apologise for any inconvenience.  Next on the agenda: set up the child avatar sets on the Marketplace, and add a few more photos to our Flickr group.

Happy Satyrday, everyone!

We Are OPEN

Hoof and Horn Market StallHoof & Horn opens today, the 6th of February, by offering male and female faun/satyr avatar sets at its branch location and on the Marketplace.

Each avatar set costs L$600 and includes everything on display except skin, hair, and eyes.  (Read this previous entry for full details of the contents of our avatar sets.)

Next on the agenda: child faun/satyr avatar sets, and setting up the mainstore (which will have individual body parts for sale, so you can create your own look from scratch)!

In the meantime, pay a visit to the Hoof & Horn market stall in the Seven Isles Market and have a look around.  From there, you can also join the Hoof & Horn Updates Group if you like.  (Any group member also has the ability to invite others, so if you have difficulty using the group-joiner, just politely ask a member to add you.)

Hoof and Horn Market StallIf you bought an avatar and have a Flickr account, why not join the Hoof & Horn Flickr Group and add your photos there?  Even if you don’t have a Flickr account, you can still browse the photos that others have added to the group pool.  See the different ways people have customised their avatars and used them in-world!

Coming Soon…

Hoof & Horn faun/satyr avatars will be released sometime in February 2011.  : H&H : Caramel FemaleOur avatar sets include:

  • horns
  • ears
  • tail
  • fur
  • legs
  • hooves
  • shape
  • alpha layer

Everything in the set has modify and copy permissions.  And now for the features of each piece in the set.

Horns: These sculpted horns are modeled after actual goats’ horns, which curve back as well as outward.

Ears: Sculpted ears that twitch.

Tail: The tail twitches too, and resembles the horse-like tail of ancient satyrs.

Fur: Comes in two varieties–full coverage, and half coverage (thigh-high)*.  Included on all applicable clothing layers.

*Half-fur is not included with the purchase of child faun/satyr avatar sets.

Legs: The sculpted legs are different for males, females, and children.  The male legs have a more muscular calf, the female legs have a more slender calf, and the child legs widen at the bottom where they meet the hooves (giving the appearance that the child has yet to grow into his/her hooves!).

Hooves: Two varieties are included–a basic pair, and a pair that emits particle hoofprints when you walk.

Shape: Each avatar set contains a shape, which the avatar parts fit perfectly.  To save time and avoid adjusting all the prims to fit yourself, just wear the shape provided and everything will fit normally.  Of course, you may still want to make your shape unique to suit your individual look, and for that reason the shape is modifiable.  However, it is recommended to keep certain aspects such as height and leg length unchanged (otherwise the prims will need adjusting).

Alpha Layer: An alpha clothing layer is provided (by Annalisa Shepherd) to make your avatar feet and legs invisible below the knee.  This makes it possible to wear our prim legs and hooves without the need for bothersome “invisi-prims.”

: H&H : Rust MaleAs stated earlier, every part of these avatar sets has modify and copy permissions.  We are talking about true modify permissions; there are no resizer scripts!

The goal of Hoof & Horn is to provide everyone with the means to customise and personalise their avatars to a high degree.  No one wants to journey through Second Life looking like a prefabricated clone!  To facilitate uniqueness, Hoof & Horn sells not only the basic avatar sets, but also individual parts.  This makes it possible to have (for example) a tail that matches your hair colour, or two different coloured ears.

After the release of the standard avatar sets, Hoof & Horn will work on creating new parts to mix and match, enabling you to assemble an avatar that is truly one-of-a-kind!
